Japanese carmaker Nissan on Wednesday launched the new Nissan Micra and the Nissan Micra Active in a bid to step up sales in the highly competitive segment it operates in.
The new Micra is essentially a facelifted Nissan Micra with a new front grille and design and also added premium interiors. It will offer a continuously variable transmission (CVT) gearbox model, a first in the segment for improved fuel economy, a company statement said. It comes in 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel versions and will offer four standard variants of XL, XL Option, XV (with CVT option) and XV Premium (only diesel). The price of petrol version starts at Rs.4.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) with the top-end XV CVT priced at Rs.6.39 lakh. In Diesel, the XL is priced at Rs.5.99 lakh and the XV Premium at Rs.7.14 lakh. Nissan also launched the Micra Active with a new interior. It is also available in a special safety grade with added features. The Micra Active starts at Rs.3.5 lakh for the XE and goes up to Rs.4.71 lakh for the XV Safety at the premium end. It has revived the Datsun brand internationally and it will sell economy segment cars. The first Datsun product for India is to be unveiled within the next fortnight.
