Nigel Harris to head Ford India

American automaker Ford on Thursday announced the appointment of Nigel Harris as the new president of the company’s Indian operation. Mr. Harris, the vice-president (sales and service, Ford Asia Pacific), whose appointment is effective February 1, 2014 will be replacing Joginder Singh.

Mr. Singh will repatriate to U.S. as director corporate strategy, Ford Motor, the company said in a statement.

In his new role, Mr. Harris will be responsible for managing and growing the integrated manufacturing operation of Ford India.

“He also will lead the charge for product programs to serve both customers in India as well as the growing export business, and he will oversee the successful implementation of Ford’s expansion plans in India, through its operations in Chennai and its second upcoming integrated facility in Sanand, Gujarat,” it added.

Mr. Harris will be based at Ford’s India corporate office in Gurgaon, and report directly to David Schoch, president, Ford Asia Pacific.

Mr. Singh will take on his new corporate role starting March 1, 2014. Before serving as president and managing director, Ford India, Mr. Singh served as president and managing director, Ford Business Services Centre, responsible for Ford’s Global Business Services operations headquartered in Chennai, India.
