Natural rubber output up marginally

Natural rubber production in the country increased by 2.6 per cent during the July compared to the same month last year. Production during July stood at 66,000 tonnes compared to 64,300 tonnes during July 2011, according to figures released by the Rubber Board.

However, rubber production during the April-July period this year showed a dip of half-a-per cent to stay at 2,38,700 tonnes compared to the 24,00,00 tonnes for the same period last year.

Consumption of natural rubber (NR) during July increased more than a half per cent to touch 83,000 tonnes compared to 82,500 tonnes during the previous month. Consumption during July 2011 was 81,210 tonnes.

Import of natural rubber had come down in July 2012 to 17,084 tonnes compared to 19,928 tonnes in July 2011.

Total consumption during the April-July 2012 period stands at 3,30,250 tonnes compared to the 3,24,425 tonnes of consumption during the same period in 2011.
