Mahindra’s agri arm signs pact with Sea6 Energy

‘Jingo’ is a technologically advanced crop yield enhancement product that aims to help farmers boost agricultural productivity in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

The crop care division of Mahindra Agri Business, part of Mahindra Group, on Friday signed an exclusive product licence agreement with Bengaluru-based start-up Sea6 Energy to market and distribute its crop yield enhancement product, ‘Jingo’.

‘Jingo’ is a technologically advanced crop yield enhancement product that aims to help farmers boost agricultural productivity in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

As per the nine-year agreement, Mahindra will market ‘Jingo’ across the country through the distribution network of its crop care business, which has over 1,800 dealers across 19 States.

Speaking on the new pact, Vikram Puri, Vice-President, Mahindra Agri Business said: “We are delighted to partner with Sea6 Energy to market ‘Jingo’ across the country. Both of us will share the profit from the proceeds generated by the sales of ‘Jingo’. We have always pioneered products which aim to boost farm productivity and ‘Jingo’, using cutting-edge technology, has demonstrably improved agricultural output in a safe and sustainable manner.”

‘Jingo’ has been developed by Sea6, founded in 2010 by a group of IIT Madras alumni, and is currently being incubated by the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms. Sea6 will produce ‘Jingo’ at its facility in Tuticorin, while, Mahindra will be responsible for marketing activities.

‘Jingo’ will initially be made available to Indian farmers in one litre and 500 ml packaging and can be administered to crops in a number of ways such as through a foliar spray, fertigation/ drip systems or through soil, and seed and root application, the company said.

The company has developed patented technologies that can facilitate large-scale cultivation of selected sea plants. In addition, Sea6 Energy has created proprietary bioprocess technologies to produce bio-products such as functional food/ feed ingredients, renewable fuels and plant stimulants.
