Without pay for ten months and with no sign of a revival , employees at Kingfisher Airlines have intensified their agitation to get their pending dues.
A group of 50 to 60 employees are camping at the almost vacant Kingfisher House, near the domestic terminal of the Mumbai airport, and are seeking an immediate meeting with chairman Vijay Mallya. They are demanding at least six month’s salary in payment. More employees are being called to join the agitation, they said.
“We have lost all our patience. Kingfisher must clear our dues immediately. Since Wednesday, we have been insisting for a meeting with Mr. Mallya. We were told Mr. Mallya wants to meet a 10-member delegation but we have rejected the offer. We want salary for six months,” said an employee who requested not to be named. Kingfisher Airlines could not be reached for comment.
At present, Kingfisher Airlines is reeling under accumulated losses of Rs.16,023.46 crore. A consortium of 14 lenders has initiated debt recovery proceedings against Kingfisher and the promoters.
