Jet Airways and Air India, too, have joined the race to cut fares. Jet Airways has launched a three-day sale of 60 days and 30 days apex fares starting February 25 till February 27 on domestic flights operated by Jet Airways and JetLite. Travel under this offer is valid from March 27 to September 30, 2014.

“Date changes and refunds are permitted,” the airline said in a communication to travel agents.

Air India has responded in a limited way by offering special fares only in five sectors and the flights include AI 776, AI 643, AI 522, and AI 635.

AirAsia, in the meanwhile, has offered more than half-a-million free seats from Kuala Lumpur, along with 1.8 million low-fare promotional seats offered in select AirAsia flights.

“All inclusive fares start from as low as Rs.6,999 from Kochi, Kolkata, Tiruchirappalli, Chennai and Bangalore to Kuala Lumpur and from Chennai to Bangkok Rs.7,999, available for booking from 24 February to March 2, 2014, for the travel period from October 1, 2014 to April 30, 2015,” the airline said.
