Jaiprakash cement sales rise 13 p.c. in September

Jaiprakash Associates Ltd on Monday reported 13 per cent jump in its cement sales for September at 6.92 lakh tonnes.

The company had sold 6.14 lakh tonnes of cement in September 2008, Jaiprakash Associates said in a statement.

The cement despatches rose by 27 per cent at 21.30 lakh tonnes for June-September quarter as against 16.72 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period.

In the first half of the current fiscal, the company has sold 45.10 lakh tonnes of cement as compared with 35.57 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Jaiprakash Associates is the third largest cement producer in the country with an installed production capacity of 14.7 million tonnes per annum.

The company is planning to increase the capacity to 25 million tonnes per annum by March 2010.
