The ‘India Show' to be unveiled from March 24 here will kick off the campaign around the globe to make India the global hub of diamonds and art and soul of jewellery. India will also impress upon well known Swiss watch makers to set up manufacturing base in the country.

Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma will inaugurate the show at the India Pavilion, which is being hosted by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, here. He will be joined by Didier Burkhalter, Federal Councillor, Head of the Federal Department of Home Affairs, Switzerland.

According to Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council President Rajiv Jain, the India Show is an endeavour to promote Indian culture at a global level. The India Pavilion will have 53 of the top Indian brands, including Rata Ultimo, Victoria Gems, Uni Design, Jewelex, Venus, Kama, Schachter, Inter Carat and Fine Jewellery. “India will show and highlight its capabilities through a unique product gallery and culture through Indian evening and cuisine,'' he added.

Mr. Sharma will be meeting a high-level delegation of watch makers of Switzerland led by Jean-Daniel Pasche, President, Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, which will include top brands such as Patek Phillippe, Swatch, Rolex, Raymond Weil, Blancpain, Chopard and Tissot. The meeting will focus on encouraging the Swiss brands to set up base in India to develop products and also to enter the country through retail joint ventures. Mr. Sharma will hold deliberations with Indian diamond traders based in Antwerp on the world diamond industry and the role they can play to make India the global hub. The GJEPC will also unveil an ‘international corporate campaign' epitomising the fact that India is the art and soul of jewellery.
