Aditya Birla group’s Idea Cellular Ltd, for the quarter ended December 31, 2014, has reported consolidated net profit of Rs. 767 crore as compared to net profit of Rs. 467 crore for the same period last year, up 64 per cent.
During the period the company’s total income increased to Rs. 8150 crore from Rs. 6687 crore for the same period last year, up 22 per cent.
On a standalone basis the company has posted a net profit of Rs. 665 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2014 as compared to Rs. 393 crore for the same period last year, up 69 per cent.
Total income has increased to Rs. 8070 crore from Rs. 6596 crore for the same period last year, up 22 per cent.
As per data released by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Idea Cellular added 2.04 million new subscribers in December far ahead of Airtel and Vodafone.
In the calendar year, Idea said it had added 22.2 million subscribers, the highest addition in the industry.
“1 out of 6 Indian prefer brand Idea for their mobile services as company’s subscriber market share raced past 18.1 per cent. Inspite of huge 17 per cent incremental new customer addition in year 2014, the customer mobile spend on Idea network increased by Rs. 10 to Rs. 179, a clear testimony to growing power of brand Idea,” the company added.
During the quarter, Idea carried 170.7 billion minutes on its network, registering 5.1 per cent sequential quarterly growth and 46.1 billion Megabytes of Mobile data on its 2G+3G platform.
Idea Cellular shares closed with a gain of 1.10 per cent at Rs. 170.35 on the BSE.
