The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will use the DTH platform of the Ministry of Human Resource Development to launch its TV channel on August 15.

To revolutionise the education delivery system, the ICAI has been using all possible ICT modes by delivering audio/video lectures through Gyan Darshan, launch of digital library, ICAI online store and bringing out study materials at intermediate level in different module, he said.

On Friday, the Management Committee of the Southern Region met to review Education and Training so as to be in tune with the Global Education Standards. It would come into force from the 2016. In its pre-budget memorandum, the Standing Committee on Finance on the DTC urged the Centre to exempt those drawing up to Rs.3 lakh annually from IT; to bring those earning between Rs.3 lakh and Rs.10 lakh under the 10 per cent slab, and to place those earning Rs.10-20 lakh in the 20 per cent slab.

Respect for taxpayers

Mr. Raghu said taxpayers should be treated as clients, and should be accorded priority in services. .

The institute called for abolishing surcharge imposed on individuals and corporates; preparing single ITR form; creating online grievance portal for speedy resolution of queries of assesses; making mandatory filing of IT returns for NRI owning a property or asset in India.
