Google launches Chromebooks in India

October 10, 2013 07:05 pm | Updated 07:05 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Over two years after launching them globally, Google on Thursday announced that Chromebooks would be available at retail stores in India from October 17.

“From October 17, Indians will be able to enjoy the Chromebook experience with the launch of Acer C720 Chromebook and HP Chromebook 14,” Google India said in a release.

Chromebooks are laptops that are powered by Google’s Chrome OS instead of Microsoft’s Windows.

Initially, Google is offering 100GB of free Google Drive storage for two years (starting on the date the buyer redeems the drive offer) with them.

Acer C720 Chromebook is priced at Rs.22,999, while HP Chromebook 14 is priced at Rs.26,990 and will be available at select Reliance Digital and Croma stores in Delhi and Mumbai from October 17. It is also available for pre-order at Flipkart Online from Thursday.
