M. Sukumar Reddy, an independent director of scam-hit Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited, was on Thursday arrested by a police team from Chandigarh and produced in a court there which released him on bail on furnishing a surety for Rs.20 lakh.

He was picked up by the police team that came here with non-bailable arrest warrants (NBWs) issued by a court for failure to appear in a cheque bounce case following a complaint by Religare Finvest Limited, a non-banking financial company which is the lending vertical of Religare Enterprise.

The next hearing is on July 30.
