Ford, on Wednesday, launched its much-anticipated compact sports utility vehicle EcoSport with the price starting at Rs.5.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The model will be available with three engine options — one litre petrol with Ecoboost technology, 1.5 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine, and in seven colours.
While the 1.5-litre petrol variant is priced at Rs.5.59 lakh, the one-litre Ecoboost petrol version comes with a price tag of Rs.7.90 lakh. The EcoSport with 1.5 litre diesel will be available for Rs.6.69 lakh, and the automatic transmission version in 1.5 litre petrol is priced at Rs 8.45 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
“We expect EcoSport to be a game changer for Ford in India and also set a benchmark in the Indian auto industry,” company President and Managing Director Joginder Singh told reporters here.
The company had already started taking bookings of the vehicle, and deliveries would start immediately, Mr. Singh said. Ford India has invested $142 million at its Chennai plant to manufacture EcoSport.
