Five ports may get new terminals

The Union government is on the threshold of clearing projects for augmenting the capacity of five major ports at an estimated cost of Rs. 17,630 crore.

The Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) has approved the construction of new container terminals at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Ennore Port Limited, Tuna Tekra at Kandla Port Trust and Diamond Harbour at Kolkata Port Trust, and multipurpose cargo at Mumbai Port Trust.

These schemes are expected to create additional capacity of 150 million metric tonne per annum at these five ports
