Fiat India on Tuesday launched its new premium hatchback Punto Evo in Delhi between Rs. 4.55 lakh – Rs. 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Punto, which was launched in 2008, has received a much-needed facelift and will now compete against new Volkswagen Polo, Swift and the upcoming Hyundai Elite i20. The Italian automaker will hope to revive Punto’s sales and its market share in the segment with this launch.

The Punto Evo will come in four engine options – two in petrol and diesel each. The petrol variant of the car comes equipped with the same 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre mill, which produces 67 BHP and 89 BHP respectively. The diesel variant comes with the 1.3-litre MultiJet engine in two different states of tune. Power to the wheels will be transmitted through a five-speed gearbox.

The car comes with a redesigned front bumper and grille, a new headlamp and fog lamp housing. The grille and trapezoidal fog lamps get chrome strips running along the perimeter. The front of the car is very similar to that of the Avventura concept that Fiat had showcased in the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

There are new styling elements at the rear as well. New LED lamps, a redesigned bumper and the Evo badging add a bit of sportiness and premium-feel to the car.

On the inside, the car borrows few elements from its elder sibling, the Fiat Linea. Leather wrapped steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake lever and piano-finish centre console are some of the striking features. The car also comes with front airbags, automatic climate control, a new stereo system, and premium upholstery, among others.

Fiat has already started taking bookings for the car, and is expected to start deliveries soon. The car will come in seven colour options and will cost in the range of Rs. 4.55 lakh – Rs. 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
