Bengaluru-based GS Farm Taaza, a B2B e-commerce firm in the fresh produce segment, will achieve break-even in a year’s time, said a top executive.
“We entered this business with a focus on increasing value [delivered] to farmers and the business customer,” said Kumar Ramachandran CEO, Farm Taaza. “We have more 1,400 registered farmers and our aim is to help up to 10,000 farmers over three years.”
A wholly-owned subsidiary of Gram Suchana Solutions, GS Farm Taaza procures 20 tonnes of fruits and vegetables from farmers in Ooty, Chikaballapur, Hosur and Palacode at market prices daily. These products are sold directly to more than 350 user outlets. “We will tie up with more kirana stores and farmers to cover all of South India in three years. We are now serving Chennai, Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Hyderabad.” The firm plans to enter Kochi, Vijayawada, Calicut and Thiruvananthapuram.”
