Sanjiv Bajaj, managing director of Bajaj Finserv, has been named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2017. He will represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) in Monte Carlo from June 13.

E. Sreedharan, widely acknowledged for his contribution in transforming the public transport system in India, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, EY said in a release. He was instrumental in the planning and execution of Kolkata Metro, Delhi Metro, Kochi Metro and Lucknow Metro. He also spearheaded the Konkan Railway project, considered among the most difficult railway projects in the world, completing it in a short span of eight years.

Among others named winners in nine other categories for the Entrepreneur of the Year Programme are: Nithin Kamath, founder and CEO, Zerodha (start-up); Ajay Singh, CMD, SpiceJet (business transformation); Puneet Dalmia, MD, Dalmia Bharat Group (manufacturing); Satheesh Kumar K.R., CMD, Enzen Global Solutions (services); Rashesh Shah, chairman and CEO, Edelweiss Group (financial services); Sunder Genomal, MD, Page Industries (consumer products and retail); Glenn Saldanha, CMD, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (life science and healthcare); Akhil Gupta, executive chairman, Bharti Infratel (entrepreneurial CEO); and Sumant Sinha, founder chairman and CEO, ReNew Power Ventures (energy, real estate and infrastructure).
