Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has settled more than 1.1 crore claims in the current financial year till February 2014. Reviewing the progress of the organisation, K. K. Jalan, Central Provident Fund Commissioner, has stated in a release that eight lakh claims were settled in February alone. Of these, 31 per cent were settled within three days and 66 per cent within 10 days of receipt. The grievance redressal machinery of EPFO also ensured that 15,206 grievances were disposed during the month under reference.

As the organisation would soon roll out universal (permanent) account numbers for its members, employers should be encouraged to transfer their accounts on change in job/location to facilitate continued membership and better benefits, Mr. Jalan noted. .
