EMC Corporation, on Thursday, rolled out ‘Federation Business Data Lake’, a solution that would help enterprises manage and analyse big data in an efficient, scalable and cost-effective manner to make informed strategic decisions.

The company also launched its Hadoop Innovation Centre. Besides providing enterprises solutions, it will also allow software vendors to test real-use cases and create new solutions. Hadoop is an open-source software framework that enables analysis of big data.

EMC also announced the launch of a 4-week free, open, online and interactive course on data lakes. It is targeted at students and decision-makers who want to learn how to make better sense of big data.

Amit Mehta, Country Manager, Isilon Storage Division, said that in India the digital universe was doubling in size every two years.

It would get bigger with increased digitisation and creation of smart cities, he added “Given this scenario, Hadoop has immense potential and it will reinvent the way the industry manages big data,” he said. One of the challenges that businesses face is that diverse data, structured and unstructured, lie in different storage devices, and it is difficult to get all the data together on to one platform so that they can be analysed. The EMC solution aims to simplify the whole process.

Hadoop has wide applications in diverse sectors.

The Federation Business Data Lake, which can be implemented in a week, is flexible and compatible with legacy systems. It is designed for speed, self-service and scalabilitythat will help managers make accurate business decisions.
