Global technology services company Dell announced on Thursday the launch of its storage design centre in Bangalore, its sixth such facility across the world.
Alan Atkinson, Vice-President/General Manager, Dell storage, told The Hindu that the Bangalore facility was part of the company’s focus of harnessing the development of storage, servers and networking development to offer “convergent solutions” to business enterprises.
“Dell is targeting both the high-end as well as the lower-end of the server market,” Mr. Atkinson said. “We intend to reach out to both the niche as well as the general-purpose segments,” he added. Dell, he said, had invested $35-40 million in the last 10-12 years in R&D at its Bangalore facility, which employs 27,000 personnel.
Mr. Atkinson refused to say how many personnel would be employed at the new facility.
