KOLKATA: Coal India Ltd. has drawn up a special forward e-auction calendar for 2018-19 to help power plants systematically plan their coal-lifting schedule for the fiscal year. A little over 45 million tonnes of coal would be put across for this.

Forward e-auction helps the stressed power plants who do not have regular linkages or having constraints in sourcing the coal to operate the plant at higher plant load factor (PLF), a CIL official said. It will also enable the power plants plans their logistics better.

All coal-producing subsidiaries of CIL have uploaded the month-wise and source-wise offerings up to March 2019 under this scheme.
