CII to open 2 skill development centres in north

With an intention of creating skilled manpower suiting every industry needs, industry body CII toady said it will set up two skill development centres at Parwanoo in Himachal Pradesh and Gurgaon in Haryana.

Besides, the chamber has also decided to commission skill-gap studies in Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi as part of its roadmap outlined for 2010-11.

CII, in association with the Indian Institute of Skill Development, has initiated a process to start a skill development centre as a pilot project at Parwanoo wherein short-term advanced courses in various trades would be started, CII northern region chairman R.M. Khanna told reporters here on Monday.

In addition to it, CII has also plans to set up another centre in collaboration with the Singapore-based ITE institute in Gurgaon for improving skills.
