February 21, 2014 12:09 am | Updated May 18, 2016 09:43 am IST - CHENNAI:

Cholamandalam MS General Insurance is looking to cut down on policy processing time, reduce costs and make the insurance buying process easier for its customers through its mobile-first strategy. The company, which is a joint venture between Murugappa Group and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group of Japan, has come out with a ‘Chola MS Wellness on the Go’ mobile application that will allow its customers to ditch the conventional plastic health card for a digital equivalent that comes with a host of features. “The application, which creates an e-health card, allows easy cashless hospitalisation, gives information on the policy, and also offers health tracking features,” said S. S. Gopalarathnam, Managing Director, Chola MS, while addressing reporters here on Thursday.

“This is about enabling our customers. Our agents also have similar technology, which speeds up the process as well on the field,” he added.

The company also plans to come out with similar Android applications for its motor and travel insurance customers.
