The Centre on Thursday removed quantitative ceiling on export of branded edible oil in consumer packs of up to 5 kg and fixed a minimum export price (MEP) of $1500 per tonne without any quantitative restriction.

It was also decided to set up an inter-ministerial committee chaired by Commerce secretary, to calibrate the MEP from time to time. The committee can co-opt members as special invitees if required.
