British Airways announced the launch of its sixth direct service from London to Chennai. Come Sunday, the additional London-Chennai flight will offer customers more travel options taking the weekly total to 48 flights from five key cities in India.

British Airways in India also marks 25 years of legacy, innovation and flying to Chennai. On November 3, 1988, British Airways’ Lockheed TriStar 200 took to the skies connecting Heathrow Terminal 4 and Madras via Kuwait twice a week.

Christopher Fordyce, Regional Commercial Manager, British Airways, South Asia, said: “The announcement on our additional flight to Chennai marks another milestone towards British Airways’ expansion and growth in India. Chennai forms a very critical part of our India strategy and through this initiative we would like to reiterate our commitment to the market.”

“Being a commercial and cultural hub of South India, we have witnessed tremendous growth in Chennai from both business and leisure travel categories in the past and expect these segments to grow exponentially in future,” he said.

British Airways will deploy Boeing 777-200 in three class configuration on London-Chennai sector.
