German auto component giant Bosch on Friday said it has appointed Guenter Weber as its Regional President for automotive aftermarkets business in India with immediate effect.

“Mr. Guenter Weber has been appointed as the Regional President for automotive aftermarket business of Bosch Ltd effective November 1, 2013,” the company said in a statement.

Mr. Weber takes over the responsibility following the exit of S Murlidharan, who moved out of the firm in July 2013.

“Mr. Weber will now be responsible for the regional operations and focus on driving growth for the automotive aftermarket division in India,” the company said.

Prior to this, Mr. Weber was in Germany as the Vice President of Core Business Field Diesel of the Automotive Aftermarket Division, it added.

Commenting on the appointment, Bosch Group India President Steffen Berns said, “We are confident that the automotive aftermarket business will benefit immensely from his (Weber’s) rich international experience.”

The Indian auto sector is undergoing a challenging phase, where new trends are emerging, he added.

“With the recent slowdown in the auto sector, there is increasing focus on the aftermarket segment and I am confident that Weber will take the business to newer heights,” Mr. Berns said.

Mr. Weber has been associated with Robert Bosch GmbH since 1990 and has experience in areas like marketing, sales, engineering and manufacturing.

He has worked in different markets like Germany, the USA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific region.
