Motorcycle major, Bajaj Auto (BAL) has launched an upgrade of its successful bike Platina, which it claims is the most fuel-efficient 100 cc motorcycle.

In a statement, Bajaj Auto said the Platina ES is a technology leap.

“It is an entirely new platform developed with a new DTS-i powered engine which delivers a potent mix of superior power and world champion mileage.’’

The new product delivers a mileage of 96.9 kilometres per litre as per ARAI testing, which the company claims is the highest ever among all 100 cc bikes not just in India, but the world. Bajaj Auto said it had conducted a global study on mileage across more than 50 major countries and more than 500 motorcycle models.

“No other production bike in the 95 to 105 cc range, either in India or globally, comes close,’’ it said.

Bajaj Auto said it had sold more than 50 lakh Platinas to date.

The Platina ES is priced at Rs. 45,431 ex-showroom Mumbai and is available in three colours – ebony black, electron blue and candy red. It comes with refreshed styling, an electric start and the longest seat in the segment, according to BAL.
