Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, on Monday, launched the Audi RS 7 Sportback, its most powerful car in India. The five-door coupe is priced at about Rs.1.29 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai).

“After the overwhelming response to our Audi RS 5 which further boosted our leadership in the luxury sports car segment in India, we are confident that the Audi RS 7 Sportback would establish new benchmarks in the performance sports car segment in India,” Joe King, Head Audi India, told a press conference.

11 per cent growth

The company sold 10,003 units in 2013, a growth of 11 per cent. “We expect to continue to grow at the same rate this year,” Mr. King said on the sidelines of the conference. The RS 7 Sportback combined the power of a sports car with the elegance of a large, five-door coupe, the company said, adding that it had a 3,993 cc engine and could go from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 305 kmph. Mr. King said Audi had plans for a series of launches this year, and would launch the A3 later this year targeting the volume segment.
