Software services company iGate Corporation announced the appointment of Ashok Vemuri as its president and CEO on Thursday.
A statement issued from its headquarters in Fremont, California said Mr. Vemuri’s tenure is to commence on September 16. He will also serve on the company’s board.
Mr. Vemuri recently quit Infosys as board member and head of its Americas business and Global Head of Manufacturing and Engineering services. He had also established and ran Infosys’ financial services and insurance vertical for almost a decade. Mr. Vemuri also served as Chairman of Infosys’ China operations.
Gerhard Watzinger, who assumed the role of Interim president and CEO in May after the dramatic exit of Phaneesh Murthy, will remain with iGate, playing an “advisory role temporarily to assist with Mr. Vemuri’s transition,” iGate said.
“iGate has great market opportunity right now because of the success of its Business Outcomes-based model and the Company’s ability to deliver excellent solutions across numerous vertical markets,” said Mr. Vemuri.
