Ashok Leyland sales down 26% in January

Hinduja Group flagship firm Ashok Leyland on Monday reported a 26 per cent decline in its total sales at 7,847 units in January 2014.

The Chennai-based heavy vehicle major had sold 10,561 units in the same month of the previous year, Ashok Leyland said in a filing with the BSE.

Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles were down 19 per cent to 5,530 units during the month as against 6,863 units in January 2013.

Light commercial vehicles sales during the month stood at 2,317 units as against 3,698 units, down 37 per cent, in the year-ago period.
