Ashok Leyland lands ₹ 321-crore order from IRT

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has landed a ₹ 321-crore order from The Institute of Road Transport (IRT), Tamil Nadu.

The order is for supply of 2,000 passenger chassis. It also provides for supply of 100 fully-built small buses to various state transport undertakings in Tamil Nadu.

The order is scheduled to be supplied during the first half of 2018-19, according a company filing with the BSE.

According to Vinod K. Dasari, chief executive office and managing director of Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja flagship company has a long partnership with the institute. The city-based transport solution provider is convinced that its understanding of the market and customers has helped it to win this order.
