Apple and Google on Friday announced that they have decided to dismiss lawsuits against each other in their patent dispute over Google’s Motorola Mobility handset, according to Bloomberg.

“Apple and Google have agreed to dismiss all the current lawsuits that exist directly between the two companies,” Google spokesman Matt Kallman said in a statement.

The legal dispute began in 2010 when Motorola, which was purchased by Google, and Apple began fighting over smart phone patents.

Both companies instead are planning on working together to reform part of the US patent system, the report said.
