Alcatel One Touch, a brand of mobile phone manufacturing company TCL Communication, on Thursday, launched seven smart phones in the South, targeted at different age groups.
The smart phones are in two series — Idol and Hero — for the mid and high-end range.
The Idol series has a memory size of 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB, a five-inch display screen and features such as Bluetooth and Wi-FI.
The Hero’ is a high-end phone with a six-inch high definition display with handwriting recognition, a 13 megapixel (MP) rear camera and a 2 MP front camera, with memory size of 16 GB expandable to 32 GB and 2 GB as internal memory.
Southern market Steven Zhao, Country Manager APAC (India Business Unit) said the southern market was one of the growing engines for the company, and the phones would be launched in Bangalore, Mysore, Hubli, Hyderabad, Vijaywada, Vizag, Chennai, Coimbatore and Kochi. It would also be marketed in the rest of the country.
Price The mobile phones are priced between Rs.10,000 and Rs. 30,000.
When asked how they would compete with smart phones with similar features that are available in India at a lesser price, Atul Gaur, Executive Managing Director, Ingram Micro, channel partner for Alcatel, said serious users would buy the phones but he did not expected ‘volume sales’ from them.
