Telecom operator Aircel is wooing customers to its 3G network with various incentives and mass campaigns for increased data usage.

These include promotional offers and special discounts during festive seasons, Friday sales, 3G experience zones in semi-urban areas, pocket internet and free basic internet.

Besides, it has also organised mass campaigns such as “Be online with Aircel”, “See you online Ba” and “Limit Se Zyada” to take data to the next level of growth and acceptance in India.

Briefing reporters here on Tuesday, Sunil Kuttam, Aircel Data Head, said: “Data is the cash cow we are focusing upon. There is also growth happening on 2G front with most new customer starting out on using 2G and then upgrading to 3G.”

He said there had been a dramatic increase in the sales of smart phones, which has led to a widespread need for data. Out of its 7.8 crore subscribers, nearly 38 per cent are data users.
