The Boeing Company announced on Wednesday that it would deliver the first 787 Dreamliner to Air India by the end of the year.

“The deliveries of the first 787 will commence in the fourth quarter of 2011. The induction of the 787 will add to Air India's war chest as it prepares to take on the competition,” said Boeing India president Dinesh A. Keskar, addressing the media on the sidelines of the Aero India show in Bangalore.

Boeing had orders for 847 Dreamliners from 57 countries, according to Mr. Keskar.
