Adani to develop 10,000 MW solar parks in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan Government and Adani Enterprises Ltd., on Monday, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for developing solar parks with a capacity of 10,000 MW in the next ten years.

Signs MoU with State

The MoU was signed by Adani Enterprises CEO Vineet Jain and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Managing Director B. K. Dosi in the presence of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the Adani group, will develop solar parks having a capacity of 10,000 MW in the next ten years.

Of these, solar parks of 5,000 MW capacity will be developed in the next five years.

Adani Enterprises will set up solar power projects of 5,000 MW on its own as part of these solar parks in addition to solar manufacturing units and power evacuation system.

The Adani group has proposed to make Rs.40,000 crore investment in Rajasthan.

Clean energy

The solar park will produce clean and green energy of about 16,644 million units, furthering India’s goals for clean, renewable energy independence, Adani Enterprises said.

The Centre has announced plans to set up 100,000 MW of solar capacity by 2022, and guidelines have been issued for setting up of at least 25 solar parks each with a capacity of 500 MW and above across the country.

Last month, Adani Enterprises had signed a memorandum of understanding with U.S.-based SunEdison Inc to jointly invest $4 billion for setting up India’s largest solar photo-voltaic making plant at Mundra in Gujarat.

The Adani group has proposed to make Rs.40,000 crore investment in Rajasthan.
