A nascent initiative from Nasscom

March 20, 2013 11:26 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 12:15 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

IT industry body Nasscom, on Wednesday, launched a programme wherein it would support 10,000 start-ups over the next 10 years in partnership with India Angel Network—an angel investor.

The ‘10,000 start-ups’ programme would incubate and fund the start-ups, and is supported by corporate majors such as Google, Microsoft and Verisign.

“The programme will focus on multi-fold activities, and is aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, building entrepreneurial capabilities at scale and providing robust early stage support through incubation, mentorship and angel funding,” Nasscom President Som Mittal told reporters here. The move aims to create a significant national impact on employment, GDP, innovation and entrepreneurship indices. “This is one of the largest initiatives that NASSCOM is undertaking, and will be vital to realize the industry vision of $300 billion by 2020,” he added.
