Six Indians to attend Presidential Summit in U.S.

Six Indian entrepreneurs have been selected to attend the two-day Presidential Summit on entrepreneurship starting April 26 in Washington, which will be hosted by U.S. President Barack Obama.

The summit —— A New Beginning: The Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship —— will highlight the increasing role of entrepreneurs in job creation and social upgradation, a statement issued by the local American Centre said here.

The six Indians, who have been invited for the summit are Irfan Alam, Shahnaz Husain, Ramachandra Kavil, Shaffi Mather, Shaheen Mistri and Sirajuddin Qureshi.

The delegates were selected considering their innovative ideas and ability to promote entrepreneurship, commitment to community service amongst other parameters, the American Centre said.

Nearly 250 delegates of various religious backgrounds from more than 50 countries are expected to participate in the global summit.

Last year, during his speech to the Muslim world in Cairo, Mr. Obama had highlighted the need for improving the life standards of Muslims across the world through tapping the global opportunities through creating more jobs.

The Summit will work towards deepening the ties between business leaders, foundations and social entrepreneurs in the U.S. and Muslim communities around the world, the Centre said.

The gathering is expected to help create new partnerships, business relationships among the emerging entrepreneurs from across the world, encouraging them start new ventures, it said.
