Retail inflation for industrial worker surges to 12.06 %

Retail inflation for industrial workers rose to 12.06 per cent in February mainly due to increase in the price of food items, electricity charges, rail fare and petrol.

“The year-on-year inflation measured by monthly Consumer Price Index-Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) stood at 12.06 per cent for February, 2013, as compared to 11.62 per cent for the previous month and 7.57 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year”, a Labour Ministry statement said here.

The food inflation stood at 14.98 per cent in February against 14.08 per cent of the previous month (January, 2013) and 5.08 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year, it said.

According to the statement, all-India CPI-IW for February rose by 2 points and pegged at 223.
