The Reserve Bank on Wednesday said it has launched a survey on foreign collaboration in Indian Industry intended to collect information regarding overseas financial and technical collaboration by domestic firms.
This will be the eighth round of the survey which seeks to get details regarding the nature, pattern, problems and operations of foreign collaboration agreements by Indian firms and will cover the period between 2007-08 and 2009-10, the Central bank said in a release on Wednesday.
Indian firms which have entered into collaboration with foreign companies or entities have been asked to furnish the necessary information by September 15.
The information sought by RBI from the Indian firms include name and origin of the foreign partner, type of collaboration, period of the agreement, rate of royalty rights secured by the domestic firm regarding transfer of knowledge, among others.
“Information collected through this survey serves as an input for the decision makers at various levels in policy formulation,” RBI said.
The bank started the survey on foreign collaboration in Indian industry in 1965. The seventh round of the survey was conducted in 2002 for the reference period 1994-95 to 2000-2001.
According to the bank, the survey is conducted “with the objective of collecting comprehensive information relating to the nature, pattern, problems and operations of foreign collaboration agreements (both equity and technical).”
The Central bank also conducts a range of other surveys covering diverse fields including inflation expectations of households, industrial outlook, professional forecasters, and inventory, order book and capital utilisation.
