Amitabh Kant, Niti Aayog Chief Executive Officer, said the government wants India to be among the top 30 countries in terms of ease of doing business over the next three to four years.
According to the World Bank's Doing Business Report 2016, India ranks 130 out of 189 countries.
“Our objective is that India must become a very easy and a very simple place to do business in.
“This is one government that is focused on innovation and trying to make India an easy, simple place to do business,” Mr. Kant said on Tuesday.
Gained 12 pointsIndia had gained 12 positions in ease of doing business, Mr. Kant said.
The government had taken various steps, which include bringing in a bankruptcy law, an e-biz platform for single channel of approvals and a national company law tribunal, he said.
“Our objective is that in the next three to four years, India must figure among the top 30 countries as far as ease of doing business is concerned,” he added.
Mr. Kant was speaking after releasing a report from the Internet and Mobile Association of India. India could be a leading player and attract $7 billion or 4.5 per cent of the world's investments by 2020, according to the report.
