Chidambaram meets FIIs

A host of foreign institutional investors (FIIs), on Thursday, met Finance Minister P. Chidambaram.

“FIIs met me, and I updated them on where we see the economy going and what steps we are taking,” Mr. Chidambaram told reporters after the meeting. Among those who attended the meeting included representatives from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Blackrock, Goldman Sachs and PE fund T Rowe Price. The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of a host of reform initiatives, being undertaken by the government to attract investments. Besides, the government is trying to address the problem on implementing the General Anti-Avoidance Rules (GAAR).
