Are you a closet poet wondering if your words will make the cut?

Do you wonder what modern art is all about?

Do you think writing a book for kids is an easy job?

The Hindu Lit for Life 2013 in Chennai offers workshops that will throw light on three aspects of writing that are often overlooked: poetry, art appreciation and writing for children.

Workshop on Narrative Poetry

Conducted by Meena Kandasamy

Feb 16, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Learn the basics of a narrative poem and try your hand at writing one.

Workshop on Art Appreciation

Conducted by Sharan Apparao

Feb 16, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The first session will focus on what is art and understanding, creating and deconstructing the new trends in art. The second session deals with the creation of the myth and the importance of writings on art.

Workshop on Creating Picture Books for Children

Conducted by Deepa Balsavar

Feb 17, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

When children listen to stories and look at drawings, they make sense of the world of the characters. They know when they like certain illustrations, even though they may not be able to articulate why. This workshop will look at the process of creating picture books for young children.
