Vaidehi is a well-known Kannada writer and poet. Her work spans over 35 publications of short stories, poems, novels, translations, biographies, and children’s dramas, the last of which have been staged at numerous events. Vaidehi is known for writing about women's issues from a balanced perspective. Some of her works have been translated into English and published by Penguin India and Oxford University Press. Her short story, Akku , is now a major telefilm on DD Bangalore, and Gulabi Talkies (Penguin India) was made into a critically-acclaimed film by Girish Kasaravalli. She has won numerous awards, including two Karnataka State Academy Awards and the Dana Chintamani Attimabbe Prashasthi from the Karnataka Government, the highest award conferred on a woman writer, for her extensive contribution to Kannada literature. She is also the recipient of the Central Sahitya Academy award for her collection of short stories, Krouncha Pakshigalu (Akshara Prakashana).

Vaidehi will speak at a session - South of the Vindhyas: Stories from the Southern States - in Chennai on February 16, 2013 at the Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall in Lady Andal School.
