For 15-year-old Dhayaa Anbajagane, the interest in Particle physics and science fiction led to his first novel ConQuest — Danger Redefined . Set in an alternative world where anything is possible, Dhayaa’s novel explores the realms of fantasy and sci-fi. The book was launched in the city recently.
Power struggleIt is about protagonist Q, who likes to play video games. That is, until his best friend pulls him into a portal that his brother made. “I call it a sword-clashing, laser-blasting sci-fi epic,” says the author, a student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar.
“It’s about a group of teenagers that travels through space. There is a black hole trying to rip the space-time continuum and they are trying to stop it. This is when the protagonist realises that there are so many things around him that he never realised.” On his journey, Q meets new allies and enemies, forges new relationships, explores infinity and beyond, and most importantly, discovers a hidden power inside him.
Dhayaa’s book is the first of the Quest Saga , and he is currently working on the draft of his second book. “With the first book, it was not the writing that was difficult, but the re-drafting. I re-drafted the book nine times because I thought there were a few things I had to change. I’m currently re-drafting my second book.” About 25 per cent of the proceeds from the book sales will go to support the cause of educating the underprivileged through Chinmaya Mission.
