Renowned author Ruskin Bond released Autumn Raga , first novel of senior journalist and writer Jaskiran Chopra at a simple function here on Sunday.

Appreciating the subtle manifestation of the “sense of loss” that is the essence of the book, Mr. Bond congratulated Ms. Chopra for not only penning down her feelings about the Doon Valley of the past but also showing enough courage to wait for a good publisher. He expressed concern over many writers going in for vanity publishing by spending their own money instead of waiting for the right business house.

Sidharth Mishra, Associate Editor of The Pioneer , felt that the book unveiled the good old Dehra Dun as it was when he studied at the Rashtriya Indian Military College here. Ms. Chopra said Autumn Raga was her tribute to the enchanting valley and the hills of Mussoorie where she grew. She had to express the emotions and she chose to write it down, she said adding that the book was published by Niyogi Books (New Delhi).

Director of Doon Library and Research Centre B.K. Joshi, and Bhupinder Gill, Ms. Chopra's class teacher at the Convent of Jesus and Mary, were among those present.
