Sakthi Peedangal fifty one. Author: Thellaru E. Mani.

The author in his introduction gives a brief account of the concept – the story of Dakshayani, the episode of Daksha’s yaga and its aftermath. An enraged Siva dances with the charred body of his consort on his shoulder and to stop the fearsome Rudrathandavam, Mahavishnu sends his Sudarsana. It chops the body into several pieces, which land in 51 places on earth. Each has been identified as Saktipeetam and worshipped. Among them are Kanchi, Madurai, Tirukutralam, Kanyakumari, Pushkar, Shimla, Kedar, Ujjain, Varanasi, Kamakya and Nepal.

This highly informative book is sure to inspire the reader to make a trip to at least a few of the places. The narration is lucid in a simple style.
