Lit for Life 2014 is here

The Hindu’s literary festival Lit For Life 2014 — presented by House of Hiranandani and powered by VIT University — is just a week away. Here are some interesting events to keep you going till the inauguration on January 11.

Film screenings

The Hindu Lit For Life 2014 in collaboration with Cinema Rendezvous will host Word on Screen, featuring films on two of Indias greatest living authors at Hotel Savera.

A Momentous Life In Creativity, a documentary on M.T. Vasudevan Nair directed by K.P. Kumaran, will be screened on January 4 at 6.30 p.m. at Sabha Hall. This will be followed by a discussion with Sashi Kumar, chairman, Asian College of Journalism.

On January 5, the premiere screening of Ananthamurthy: Not A Biography, But A Hypothesis will take place at 10 a.m. at Sandesh Hall. A Q&A session with the

director of the documentary, Girish Kasaravalli, and a discussion with Sadanand Menon and director Balu Mahendra will follow. All are welcome.

Online quiz

In keeping with the theme, a Facebook picture quiz on books and literature will be conducted on January 6 at 4 p.m. > ‘Like’ the Facebook page to take part in the quiz.

A Twitter quiz on mythology will also be conducted on January 8 at 4 p.m. >Follow HinduLitforLife to participate . Top three scorers in each quiz will win a Fastrack bag.

Words Take the Stage

The Hindu Lit For Life 2014, in association with British Council, Chennai, will present Words Take the Stage, a book reading on January 9 at 7 p.m. at theBritish Council, 737, Anna Salai.

Watch words come to life as theatre personalities perform dramatised readings from the five novels shortlisted for The Hindu Prize 2013. Foreign (Sonora Jha) will be

read by Tehzeeb Katari of The Madras Players; Another Man’s Wife And Other Stories (Manjul Bajaj) by Shaan Libby; Roll Of Honour (Amandeep Sandhu) by

Pravin Aiana; The Illicit Happiness Of Other People (Manu Joseph) by Yohan Chacko; and Vanity Bagh (Anees Salim) by Gibran Osman.

The audience is requested to be seated by 6.45 p.m. Please bring Government-ID proof to be shown during registration at the entrance. Entry is free.
