Vivek Atray, an IAS officer from Haryana, along with former cricketer Kapil Dev, launched his second book, “Dubey ji Bounces Back” (Wisdom Tree) at the India International Centre recently.

The book tells the story of a Mumbai-based banker Raghav Dubey, who, at 27, has a life transforming accident. While lying on a bed in a hospital, he decides to get rid of his shy, introvert nature and pessimistic attitude towards life. Through this simple story, the author urges readers to “bounce back, come what may”.

Atray, ecstatic with the publication of the book, said , “How much joy it gives a writer to write for 6-8 months, to chase publishers for 6-8 months, spending even more time to get the book published and finally getting the book in hand...There is nothing like a printed book in your hand. Even more is the joy that you derive from three things; love, romance and the ability to bounce back from the adversity.”

Pointing towards the hectic schedules that we tend to have nowadays, Atray invited people to read his book as an antidote. “We have to let go of the worries and smile to the fullest,” he said.

Dismissing suggestions that the writer is the hero of the book, Atray said, “I am not Dubey ji or any of the characters in the book. But there are always shades of experience that go into making a book. All the characters are basically from U.P and are inspired from various incidents”.

Highlighting the importance of calmness in dealing with a restless world, Atray said, “We must be calmly active and actively calm.” Although certain that nothing comes easy, Atray hopes that his book will inspire many to attain a healthy state of mind.
