Thanjavur - A Cultural History.

Thanjavur - A Cultural History.

The Madras Book Club and Niyogi Books are jointly releasing ‘Thanjavur - A Cultural History,' a book on the temple town, authored by Pradeep Chakravarthy with photos by Vikram Sathyanathan, on December 16, 6.30 p.m., at Taj Connemara.

Thanjavur has been the cradle of the arts for India across several centuries.

Be it painting, music, dance, drama, crafts and cuisine, the town has exemplified the best, and perfected the art of fine living.

The book deals with the cultural contributions of Thanjavur from the Chola times to the present, in 220 pages with 174 photographs (many of them archival and never printed before) and five maps.

The book not only traces the cultural history but also looks at the treasures of the Sarasvati Mahal Library.
